Heart Health Service Facilities

The heart center is also supported by an Intensive Cardiac Care Unit. The unit serves as a care extension for patients having completed Angiography and Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angiography (PTCA).

Both are techniques applied to promote / improve blood ow to the heart which is similar with the Coronary Angiography Technique.

  7. Family history of coronary heart disease under the age of 55.

I. Initial Check-up

  1. Conduct a general check-up at least once a year.
  2. If a disorder is found, consult with a cardiologist immediately.
  3. Patients with heart Disease risk factors need to go through a more detailed examination.
  4. Additional investigation to support the initial check-up, such as x-ray, laboratory check, ECG, Echocardiography, Treadmill or Holter Monitoring if necessary.
  5. Should the doctor detect a disorder, he/she will then determine the curative steps.
  6. Follow the doctor's advice to improve your health.

II. Invasive Check-up

  1. The Cardiologist will explain the catheterization procedure in the Catheterization Laboratory.
  2. Catheterization is a simple invasive step with local anaesthetic so the patient can observe the whole process.
  3. In cases where one or more blockages are found in the heart blood vessels, the doctor can perform a Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) immediately on approval to proceed from the patient or patient’s family.
  4. The doctor may require the patient to stay in the ICCU for observation overnight.

III. Operation Action

  1. The Cardiologist will refer you to a Heart Surgeon (Cardiothoracic Surgeon) for surgery.
  2. To increase success and to speed up healing, follow all guidelines from the doctor.
  3. Following surgery you will stay in the ICU for several days.
  4. As soon as your condition is stable, you will be moved to another ward and you will continue being cared for and observed.

IV. Rehabilitation

  1. After a Heart Attack (Acute Myocardial Infarction) or cardiac surgery, you will go through training and care under the counsel of a Medical Rehabilitation Specialist.
  2. You will also receive guidance in managing life and eating patterns by the hospital's Nutritionist.
  3. Follow the doctor and nurse's suggestions for life, eating and exercise patterns so you can live a quality life.
  4. Follow the doctor's suggestion to have routine check-ups so your health will continue to be monitored.
