dr. Aucky Hinting, Sp. And., Ph.D., the senior fertility specialist at SHS, returned to Surabaua in late 1989 after his study in reproduction technology specializing in In Vitro -Fertilation (IVF) in Belgium. In January 1990, SHS opened the Fertility Centre using insemination technique. Four years later, SHS began to develop In Vitro technology. This helped to establish SHS reputation as a hospital specializing in child birth, and in 1996 it pioneered sperm injection technique which directly targeted the ovum. This technique had worked wonders especially for "delicate" sperms. "This technique enables us to overcome sperm divergence as well as patient with zero sperm, and the result, the sperms which are taken from the testis are the productive ones," explained dr. Aucky.

This achievement jump-started a series of accomplishments. In 2006, the Fertility Centre developed a new reproduction method by freezmg embryo usimg vitrification technique. This year also recorded SHS' achievement in freezing the embryos from more than too patients and planted them in 48 patients after being diluted. This effort has resulted in 10 successful pregnancies.

Locales strategically in central Surabaya East Java, SHS is main destination for IVF treatment. In the past four years, this hospital has assisted around 300 patients per year with its excellent IVF program. Besides Fertility, SHS has 18 other medical specializations, ranging from hemorrhoid diabetes, kidney to neuroscience.
