Jakarta, January 22nd, 2026 – Indonesia has reached a new milestone in the advancement of cancer care through the adoption of cutting-edge medical technology. Through a strategic Indonesia–China collaboration, Siloam International Hospitals represented by MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, in partnership with United Imaging, has officially introduced the Integrated CT Linac, a state-of-the-art precision radiotherapy system, positioning itself as the first healthcare institution in Southeast Asia to install and operate advanced technology.

The Government of Indonesia has identified the strengthening of cancer care services as a strategic priority within the transformation of the national health system. The adoption of high-precision radiotherapy technology is considered essential to improve the quality of service. The government is also promoting the strengthening of cancer care services across the entire continuum of care, from prevention to treatment. Advanced radiotherapy technologies such as the Integrated CT Linac play a critical role in improving treatment accuracy, accelerating service delivery, and providing enhanced protection and safety for cancer patients.

The introduction of the Integrated CT Linac technology represents more than a milestone for the hospital, but it is a strategic contribution to strengthening Indonesia’s cancer care system amid the rising burden of non-communicable diseases, particularly cancer. The launch of the Integrated CT Linac also reflects the deepening bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and China in leveraging cutting-edge health technology for humanitarian purposes and the advancement of public healthcare services.

Held under the theme “Advanced Precision, Seamless Care: Leading the Future of Radiotherapy for a Better Healing Journey”, the launch of the Integrated CT Linac was attended by a wide range of cross-sector stakeholders, underscoring the strong synergy between governments, the healthcare services industry, and international technology partners. The event was attended by Mochtar Riady (Founder and Chairman Emeritus of Lippo Group), Caroline Riady (CEO of Siloam International Hospitals), Wang Lutong (Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Indonesia), Lucia Rizka Andalusia (Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia), Dr. Xia Jusong (President of International Business at United Imaging Healthcare Group), and dr. Edy Gunawan, MARS (Executive Director of MRCCC Siloam Semanggi).

In her remarks, Caroline Riady, CEO of Siloam International Hospitals, stated, “Our collaboration with United Imaging reflects Siloam International Hospitals' strong commitment to supporting the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in strengthening cancer care services across the entire continuum, from early detection to treatment. Through the adoption of advanced radiotherapy technology, we aim to improve treatment precision, enhance patient safety, and expand access to high-quality cancer care for communities across Indonesia and Southeast Asia”.

This commitment underscores Siloam International Hospitals’ belief that technological advancement must be complemented by strong physician clinical expertise. The balanced integration of cutting-edge technology and human expertise reflects a mature and credible clinical approach to advancing cancer care in Indonesia. The Integrated CT Linac enables precision radiotherapy through real-time imaging, requiring physicians to perform accurate treatment planning, exercise sound clinical judgment, and tailor therapies to each patient’s individual condition. The synergy between cutting-edge technology and physician clinical expertise forms the cornerstone of MRCCC Siloam Semanggi’s approach to delivering cancer care that is safe, precise, and focused on improving clinical outcomes and patients’ quality of life.

The collaboration comes amid Indonesia’s rising cancer burden, as Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN) 2022 reports breast cancer as the country’s most common malignancy, with 66,271 new cases—around 16.2 percent of all cancers—22,598 deaths, and a five-year prevalence of 209,748 cases among Indonesian women. Dr. Xia Jusong, President of International Business at United Imaging Healthcare Group, stated, “Cancer is a growing global health challenge that calls for collaboration, innovation, and long-term commitment. Through our partnership with MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, we aim to translate cutting-edge medical innovation into real-world clinical impact, demonstrating how  Indonesia–China collaboration, powered by innovation and clinical excellence, can expand access to quality cancer care, strengthen healthcare systems, and contribute to global progress in precision oncology”.

dr. Edy Gunawan, Executive Director of MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, stated, “At MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, our vision is to redefine cancer care in Indonesia and cover Southeast Asia through precision, compassion, and innovation. Our collaboration with United Imaging represents a strategic step toward that vision, enabling us to integrate cutting-edge radiotherapy technology into everyday clinical practice. This partnership allows us to deliver more personalized, efficient, and patient-centered cancer treatment, while strengthening MRCCC Siloam Semanggi’s role as a center of excellence and ensuring that Indonesian patients have access to globally benchmarked care”.

Meanwhile, dr. Denny Handoyo Kirana, SpOnkRad (K), Radiation Oncologist at MRCCC Siloam Semanggi, said, “CT Linac technology allows us to place patients at the center of cancer treatment. With daily CT-based imaging and adaptive radiotherapy, we can tailor each treatment session to the patient’s anatomy and condition, improving precision while reducing unnecessary radiation to healthy tissue. For patients in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, this means safer treatment, shorter waiting times, and a more comfortable experience without compromising clinical outcomes”.

Integrated CT–Linac: Enabling High-Precision and Efficient Radiotherapy

Meanwhile, conventional radiotherapy involves fragmented, multi-day workflows that can delay treatment initiation for days or weeks. The Integrated CT–Linac streamlines the entire process into a single session without patient repositioning, completing treatment preparation and delivery in approximately 15–25 minutes. The Integrated CT Linac combines diagnostic fan-beam CT imaging and a high-precision radiotherapy system within a single device and treatment room. Supported by an integrated, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven workflow, the entire process from diagnosis and treatment planning to radiation delivery can be performed more rapidly, adaptively, and in a highly personalized manner.

This technological advancement was further strengthened by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among Siloam International Hospitals, United Imaging Healthcare, and PT Multipolar Technology Tbk for collaboration in AI-based healthcare technology, signed by David Utama, President Director of Siloam International Hospitals; Dr. Steve Tan, Co-CEO of United Imaging; and Harianto Gunawan, President Director of PT Multipolar Technology Tbk.

The implementation of CT-based Adaptive Radiotherapy (ART) enables treatment plans to be adjusted at each session in response to changes in the patient’s anatomy. This approach enhances treatment precision while minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding healthy tissue. The integration of the Integrated CT Linac is expected to strengthen MRCCC Siloam Semanggi’s capacity as a national and regional referral center for comprehensive oncology care, enabling broader access to high-precision treatment for patients.
